BOARD MINUTES

Blackhawk Foundation Meeting Minutes

November 4, 2015

Coach Travis opened the meeting at 5:25 pm.

6 members in attendance:  Coach Travis, Laurie Lammey, Jennifer Allison, Chris Mondy, Martin Lammey, and Lori Mahoney

Open discussion:

Finances:

  • Financials are the same as last month – we are in good shape.
  • We have one more night for concessions tomorrow night.  We have the possibility of the Varsity team having a home playoff game.  If that happens we will need to get volunteers to help.
  • Coach Travis has reached out to the other team coaches to ask for help. If we can get two parents each that would be a huge help.  He understands that our coaches have already told their parents that concessions are over, and now we might be asking them to help one more time.
  • The school is giving the foundation $10,000 for the Band to take over basketball concessions.  They will have volunteers working concessions this Thursday so they can learn the process.
  • We have left over soda from football concessions.  Coach asked if we should use these for the upcoming Fall Athletic Banquet or save them for Baseball and other sports.   He said he can order canned soda for the banquet.  Martin suggested we use them for the banquet and Chris Mondy agreed.
  • Coach said the foundation paid for meals for both boys and girls Golf.  We will also pay for meals for Cross Country, and Cheer.  If Football is on the road, we will also pay for their meals (70 players and coaches).
  • We will talk again about purchasing the industrial washer and dryer for the indoor facility.  The indoor is plumbed for this.
  • In the Spring, we will have air conditioning installed in the locker rooms.

Merchandise:

  • We did not set up the merchandise tent at last Friday night’s game because of the rain.  May have the same problem at tomorrow night’s game.
  • Merchandise will be set up at the first few Basketball games and again for the big nights like colors night and senior night.
  • People are buying when we have something new.
  • Will sell last years playoff shirts at a cheaper price.

5A classification:

  • By 2018-2019 school year.  We will need to be prepared to travel a lot.
  • New Bentonville School being built about 7 miles outside of Gravette – slated to be a 7A school.

Open Discussion:

  • Tomorrow night’s game will be cancelled if there is lightening.  Coach Travis has seen schools make up games on Saturday’s, etc.
  • Fall Athletic Banquet is scheduled for December 15th.  Coach has reserved the cafeteria.  In the past, we have served lasagna.  We can continue that or request something different.
  • Chris Mondy asked if we can recognize the seniors at Spring Track.  Coach agreed this is something we need to do.  Discussed doing this as we transition from Track to Field.  Baseball will also recognize their seniors this year.  Softball does this already.
  • The school owns some property out past the city park.  Coach talked about this being a possible location for Cross-Country in our future.
  • For the playoffs, in order to get a home game, we will need to beat Shiloh by 11 points, and dependent on the score of the Gentry / Gravette game. The top 5 teams will advance to the playoffs.
  • I asked if we will stream the playoff games.  Coach Travis said Coach Laster is looking into getting sponsors to help us pay for the fee to do this.

Meeting adjourned at 5:54

Our next meeting is scheduled for December 2nd at 5:00pm at the Professional Development Center.
